During the 2026 US International Display Week (hereinafter referred to as "SID2026"), TCL CSOT brought a variety of cutting-edge display solutions under the full technology path, demonstrating the scene application potential of cutting-edge display technologies including crease-free, refreshing global consumers' experience of "a good screen". Among them, the world's first soft-light, traceless folding OLED mobile phone display (7.8") and the world's first all-in-one, traceless folding OLED mobile phone display (6.9") represent the application of TCL Huaxing's crease-free technology, which also allows innovative breakthroughs in this type of technology to be transformed into a real experience that consumers can see at a glance.

Let the screen go from foldable to non-feeling, TCL Huaxing provides a better solution without creases

Currently, foldable screens are accelerating into the host selection range of more users, and the issues of thickness and battery life that once attracted much attention have been further improved. However, at the experience level, there are still some challenges that have not been completely solved: First, after the inner screen is unfolded, there is a height difference between the screen and the black front frame. From a distance, it looks like the screen is wrapped in a black photo frame, which destroys the integrated immersion; second, the dazzling screen reflection under strong light has become the most intuitive use point for consumers. In essence, the crease problem is not just a simple surface depression, but a combination of long-term stress in the bending area, plastic deformation of the material, discontinuous support structure, and differences in reflection. A truly crease-free solution cannot rely solely on single-point repair, but must simultaneously address multiple issues such as structural flatness, material deformation control, and weakened visual visibility. TCL Huaxing starts from solving the four major problems of uneven folding, long-term deformation, strong light application, and eye-protecting visual effects. It disassembles the causes layer by layer, and adopts a "sensorless stacking" design for different folding forms to promote the folding screen from "visible creases" to "invisible to the naked eye", and from "usable" to "better usable".

The system optimizes the folding form to achieve an integrated and traceless breakthrough

In the direction of integrated and seamless folding, TCL Huaxing has systematically optimized module stacking, support materials, hinge flatness and outer layer design, using full-link technology to enhance the folding experience.

Innovative stacked design eliminates deformation from the source. By introducing multi-layer UTG and clamping the display screen in the center, the screen effectively reduces local deformation of the display surface, improves surface flatness, and provides a better structural foundation for seamless folding.

Microporous matrix support eliminates stubborn creases. The bending area of traditional folding screens is supported by large-hole grids, which causes creases to deepen. TCL Huaxing has developed a gradient support material with extremely small micropores (<20μm) to provide flatter and more continuous support. It is also paired with a new generation of adhesive material to effectively release the stress of each layer in the bending stack, significantly extending the time for plastic deformation of the material to occur, and reducing the perception of creases in daily use.

The hinge paving is optimized and the flatness is further improved. By optimizing the filling of different height differences of the hinge, the accuracy can be controlled within 100 μm, and the flatness of the bending area of the whole machine is further improved, further reducing the crease marks from the inside out.

The integrated mirror design reshapes the full-screen aesthetics. On this basis, TCL Huaxing adopts an integrated mirror design, removes the front frame, uses UFG as the top cover, and combines the externally expanded screen design with the middle frame of the whole machine to remove the visual frame of the traditional folding machine, creating a candy bar-like integrated mirror effect, and improving the full-screen look and experience of folding mobile phones.

During SID2026, TCL Huaxing exhibited the world's first all-in-one seamless foldable OLED mobile phone display (6.9"), which is the epitome of this technological path. This product is the first to have a front-frameless structure design, breaking the constraints of traditional frames, achieving an integrated integration of the screen and the body, eliminating the sense of visual fragmentation, and showing a complete mirror aesthetic effect when the screen is turned off. It is also equipped with a self-developed module stress leveller. The stacking and UTG (ultra-thin glass) strengthening process eliminates plastic deformation from the source and achieves a crease-free display that is invisible to the naked eye, bringing a better appearance and display experience to folding screen mobile phones.

From visual flatness to high-definition soft light eye protection, it reconstructs the folding viewing experience.

In the direction of soft-light, traceless folding, TCL CSOT optimizes the crease structure based on the user's visual experience to further reduce the visibility of the crease. By applying 3A soft light surface - integrating an innovative microstructured low-reflective film layer, the screen has good performance in anti-glare and reflectivity. This not only effectively avoids mirror reflections under strong outdoor light and keeps the picture clear and transparent, but also helps reduce the burden of repeated focusing on the eyes in night mode, delay visual fatigue, and further visually make creases invisible.

At the same time, on this basis, by introducing a new composite soft light film layer, the folding screen has both 3A, uniform light and bending properties, with a flash point rate as low as 3%, which greatly improves the problem of screen diffraction spots caused by the screen under high-intensity large-area indoor lighting (such as spotlights). It retains the paper-like soft texture while presenting high-definition image quality, providing a more comfortable "invisible" crease and high-definition soft light experience for the folding screen.

In addition, TCL Huaxing is concerned that traditional crease evaluation methods mostly rely on indicators such as height difference and crease angle, which are difficult to fully reflect the actual look and feel. To this end, TCL Huaxing attempts to propose an optical testing method that is closer to human eye perception. By projecting standard optical patterns such as parallel gratings and regular dots, and combining algorithms to analyze key parameters such as image deformation curvature, distortion amplitude, and image rank, it achieves quantitative characterization of crease performance. At present, this method has been included in the electronic industry standard plan and the project has been approved. In the future, it will help high-quality collaborative development in the field of flexible display.
