Global glass substrate leader plans to expand production in Xiamen

Recently, the sixth phase of the LCD glass substrate project of Electric Glass Co., Ltd. was completed and announced, and it plans to invest 750 million yuan to build a new production line in Xiang'an District, Xiamen. The project has a construction area of 21,690 square meters and a land area of 33,545 square meters. It is planned to be completed in December 2028.

Electric Glass is the world's leading manufacturer of glass substrates. After the company established the first domestic LCD glass substrate processing factory in Shanghai in 2006, it successively invested in the establishment of G8.5 glass substrate production lines in Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Fuzhou, and settled the LCD glass substrate project in Xiamen in 2014.

So far, Electric Glass has promoted the construction of six phases of projects in Xiamen, with a cumulative investment of more than 8 billion yuan. The base has also become one of the factories with the largest overseas investment of the Electric Glass Group. Currently, the Xiamen factory has the production capacity of 10.5-generation LCD glass substrates.

While continuing to expand production, Electric Glass is also actively deploying cutting-edge technologies.

On June 1 this year, the company announced a strategic business and capital alliance with YOKOWO Co., Ltd. The two parties aim to integrate the material technology advantages of Electric Glass and YOKOWO's device technology capabilities to jointly accelerate new product research and development and technological breakthroughs in the fields of semiconductors and information communications. The direction of cooperation covers semiconductor test substrates and evaluation substrates based on LTCC substrates and glass interposers, as well as antenna technologies for 5G and 6G, etc.
