From April 8th to 11th, the Touch Taiwan 2025 exhibition was held grandly in Taiwan, China.
During the period, many companies such as Ficai Optoelectronics, AU Optronics, Innolux, Nichuang Technology, Yibei Technology, Dahui International, etc., demonstrated Micro LED products in commercial large screens, smart cockpits, AR glasses, optical communications and other products. The applications are more diverse, and Micro LED applications for curved screens, wearable devices and mobile devices are becoming increasingly mature.
At the same time, from "display" to "optical connection", companies are opening up a second growth curve. Companies such as Ficai and AUO are extending the layout of Micro LED to the field of optical communications. In future communication and sensing networks such as visible light communication and high-speed optical interconnection, Micro LED is expected to play a core device role. The two-wheel drive strategy of "display + communication" is opening up imagination space for the Micro LED industry that far exceeds the traditional display market.
▋ AU Optronics
AU Optronics will demonstrate its Micro LED technology progress, mass production promotion and cross-scenario applications, covering smart mobility, retail, medical and other fields.
Among them, AUO used multi-layer transparent Micro LED modules to build an immersive performance stage about 5 meters high, and combined it with the small-pitch display solution of its subsidiary Yuanfeng New Technology on site to achieve spatialized visual presentation through splicing arrays, forming an immersive display effect.
According to reports, Yuanfeng’s new LED solution adopts extremely small pixel pitch, improves the splicing error of traditional LED display walls through adaptive adjustment of modular design, and supports multiple shapes such as flat, right-angled and curved surfaces; combined with a dynamic calibration mechanism, it greatly reduces installation and maintenance costs, and introduces flip-chip and common cathode Extreme technology, taking both display performance and energy efficiency into consideration, the relevant display solutions can currently be applied to high-standard visual fields such as government units and control centers, boutique retail, corporate displays, live broadcasts and stages that comply with U.S. government procurement regulations, and have been implemented in iconic corporate headquarters, art galleries, and museums.
In terms of transportation applications, AU Optronics has launched Micro LED full-roll entertainment displays and 16.1-inch subway carriage door double-sided displays to improve information presentation efficiency and space utilization. In addition, AU Optronics also demonstrated a 17.3-inch rollable Micro LED display, whose ultra-small bending radius breaks through the limitations of flat displays.
▋ Innolux
Innolux focuses on diverse fields such as outdoor professional applications, mobile entertainment and smart cockpits, focusing on a variety of products such as outdoor waterproof touch displays and Mini/Micro LED displays.
In terms of Micro LED, Innolux demonstrated a modular display solution and emphasized that its reflected brightness can reach 93%, which is higher than the industry level of about 77% to 80%.
According to reports, Innolux’s “17.3-inch miniLED outdoor display” has a brightness of 1500 nits, suitable for charging piles, outdoor signage and maritime transportation; the "13.3-inch miniLED in-flight entertainment display" has a thin and light design, regional dimming and an LED lifespan of more than 50,000 hours, taking into account aircraft load and fuel consumption; the "7-inch miniLED aerial drone remote control display" has high brightness, low power consumption and sunglasses viewability functions, improving outdoor operation clarity and battery life, and expanding the application of aerial drones and portable high-end displays.
▋ Ficai Optoelectronics
Ficai Optoelectronics presents a full-distance optical interconnection solution for AI data centers, completely covering the three core application scenarios of short-distance, medium-distance and long-distance.
In response to the demand for co-packaging optical architecture, Fucai teamed up with group partners AUO Optoelectronics and Dingyuan Optoelectronics to jointly launch a Micro LED optical interconnection solution. This solution has extremely low power consumption and excellent high modulation bandwidth capabilities, providing a new idea for short-distance interconnection within the next generation AI cluster.
Currently, Fucai has successfully demonstrated single-channel 1.25 Gbps performance based on Micro LED, and will continue to improve modulation speed and reliability through continued cooperative development with system partners. Fucai said that key component verification has been completed and 800G module system verification will be promoted in 2026. Fucai also demonstrated two other optical I/O solutions based on VCSEL and CW-DFB LD. AU Optronics also stated that it plans to commercialize MicroLED-based optical I/O solutions within 2-3 years.
▋ Nitron Technology
Nitron Technology and the augmented reality glasses manufacturer Zhuifeng Technology have created the first color high-resolution Micro LED AI glasses, which are expected to be used by industrial and drone customers.
▋ 1X Technology
At this exhibition, 1X Technology will appear with three core testing solutions, fully covering the key aspects of the entire process of Micro LED and compound semiconductors.
According to reports, MicroLED wafer-level PL mass testing equipment is used in key processes such as MicroLED chip manufacturing, mass transfer and repair, to achieve the PL luminous performance of tens of millions of cores on COW/COC wafers, full inspection of luminous wavelength, BIN classification and yield control.
The MicroLED high-throughput AOI inspection equipment is used for MicroLEDWafer→COC→TFT full-scenario appearance defect detection and chip global offset measurement.
▋ DaHui International
DaHui International focuses on displaying commercial display equipment, customized display system integration, and application cases in retail, industrial and smart scenarios.
According to reports, one of the highlights of Dahui International’s exhibition is Micro LED transparent display technology. This technology has the advantages of high brightness, high penetration rate and modular design, and can be widely used in high-end commercial display spaces, window interaction, smart retail and brand experience halls, exhibition venues and architectural glass fusion displays. Dahui International said that compared with traditional display solutions, Micro LED transparent display technology has achieved a good balance between visual performance and spatial integration, and is gradually becoming an important development trend for high-end commercial displays and future scene applications.
